From Ray, bought a skate lane groomer December 2013
March 25, 2013
I'm writing to thank you for making the skate lane groomer. I skied about 100 km this year on the trail I groomed with your groomer - that's about 25% of my total skied distance this year (I would have gone further if I hadn't been side lined with a knee injury in January).
I've attached a picture of my trail from March 2. I'd been grooming the trail since December, there was a freeze, then a few centimeters of snow. With a single groomer pass that trail was as good as any I've skied.
My ski time at home has been about 1.5x my grooming time, but I don't mind, because the grooming time is a relatively light workout itself. And I love the corduroy trail the groomer leaves, even if it isn't a Pisten Bully.
I think my skate technique is better because the trail I groomed is almost completely flat, so I can focus on skiing, instead of the next hill or turn or terrain transition.
Now that I have gained an understanding of where the snow accumulates in my field, I'm already thinking of a more advantageous trail route for next year. Let's hope the season cooperates.
Thanks again

From Ontario, 2 friends bought skate groomers and groomed a city park

First off, I have to congratulate you again on a terrific product. Thanks to your groomer, we've transformed a 4.5-km path in a beautiful public park into a well-used nordic skiing (and hiking) paradise. Families, competitive athletes and the general public are flocking to the area! And, so far anyway, we've received extremely positive feedback, even from classic skiers and walkers. So, a big thanks! ...........
Again, thanks. The groomer has really made a huge, positive difference for our local nordic community.

Well, we busted out the groomer today. It works well, although I have to say slushy snow and 50° seems less than optimal for grooming.
Have you dabbed with bigger skegs? I might go to Home Depot and cut something a little deeper and thicker off some plastic. The sidehills are rough, but that could be a function of the snow. [note from Peter: skegs are now twice as large, thanks for the feedback Dan!]
Overall, the thing is sweet and I'm excited to learn more and perfect it.
From Dan before he bought his skate groomer:
….”there is a jeep trail right outside my house that I skin almost every morning with about 800 feet of climbing. I probably skin it 100-125 days a year, but off that jeep trail, near the base, is a short, 1.5 km loop on mostly flat terrain that would be perfect for skating. It has about 150 feet of climbing in the 1.5 km loop. It's a loop with a cherry stem like you mention on the site. Since I'm out there anyhow each night after work walking my dog, it seems like it would make sense to tow a groomer behind me. That way, the next morning, I can go skate skiing.”

The human powered grooming tool is really working great in my area. It made really nice trail for my fat bike.

I thought I'd share my ski loop before the snow melts we have forecasted coming up. Hopefully it's packed tight enough to withstand a couple days of thaw before the next freeze. I've been using the groomer without the renovator on the bottom, and it still does a great job of breaking up any ice patches.

Just a follow up to our purchase. We had at least 10 workouts near school which would not have been as productive without the groomer. Much appreciated by our team.
A high school ski coach Tom bought a human powered 30" skate lane groomer and groomed a rolling half km loop in a park across the street from his high school enabling his team to ski more. His team won their regionals and had a provincial silver medalist.

We are a county department that provides outdoor recreation programming to local schools through PE classes; our goal is to help teach students lifelong skills that offer ways to stay active while enjoying and connecting to the outdoors. Cross-country skiing is one of our most popular offerings. The Classic Tracks groomer allows us to groom right in the schoolyards. Before we had the groomer, kids were skiing un-groomed ground, which is challenging for an experienced skier, let alone someone that’s never skied before. We try to make the students’ early experiences with skiing as positive as possible, so they are more likely to return to the sport in the future. The groomer helps us in that effort tremendously.
